Freddy's Golf Tips
Topic: Hold the Finish – Pose!

Tip: This is the position that a player ends up with after the follow through, I like to refer to this position as the “finish” or “the pose.” Believe it or not this position has some benefits.

a.) My personal favorite is that it “looks cool”

b.) The pose also allows the player to assess their finish position. Here are a few examples: is my weight on the front foot? Are my hands over my front shoulder in a good position? Is my belly button facing the target? A player that holds “the pose” longer gets immediate feedback on the type of swing that was made. If the player performs a poor swing, the player may make minor adjustments to improve the next swing.

c.) The pose also allows the player to create muscle memory when performing a good swing, which will help the player to repeat it.

d.) Holding the “finish position” also helps with ball flight. Think of throwing a ball a long distance…. If you don’t have a long follow through in the direction that you want the ball travel, the ball will not make the distance you’re trying to get to. Short follow through means short distance, long follow through which results in longer & straighter distance.

Swing Thought: Back….. thumbs up…. Hands high…. Pose….
